Kathy Robbins is a
very dear friend of mine. I met her in January of 1996, when she joined
our band on the road. She's so tiny; just 5 feet tall, 95 pounds, and
can play guitar or bass with anyone. After our first night working
together, we stayed up until 6am talking and getting to know each other.
Over the past 3 years, we've grown to have a great friendship. I often
think of her as the "big"
sister I never had.

In April of 1998,
Kathy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. We were out on the road,
somewhere in Minnesota, when she had her
mastectomy. The surgery was on a Monday, an hour and a half from where
we were working. We drove up each day to
see her.
She
was released on that next Thursday. That night, she came to the stage
and sang a bit. The next night, she played some guitar. By Saturday,
she played guitar and sang all night. What a trooper!!!!
Kathy has had
several Chemo treatments and recently some bone marrow treatments that
have really taken a lot out of her. But she still keeps her head up
high.

That segment
was written in November, 1998. We lost Kathy on January 1, 1999, and I
miss her dearly. She taught me so much about performing and really
helped me find my own self. I will always remember her for her love for
music, courage, and her never-ending desire to be the best.
This page was
started as a tribute to Kathy and her strength with the obvious hope
that she would one day, again, share the stage with me. This page is
now my memorial for her. Our friendship will always be treasured in my
memory.
I love &
miss you, Higgy!

The good news is I'm
better for the time we spent together,
and the bad news is
you're gone."
