Higgy's probably the prettiest mule we've raised. Her head is just gorgeous. She's out of a red roan Appaloosa QH mare. (Higgy is Thor's sister; (same mama- different jack). And, yes, being from the same mare as Thor, she had the same disorder when she was born, but we knew what to look for, so she never got anemic like Thor. Obviously, we tried a different jack, but same thing. The Equine Clinic said we could try a stallion--the odds of this happening with a horse are less--but we opted not to. We sold the mare in Feb. '03.
She's had a saddle on a few times, and a rider three times...she didn't think about bucking. UPDATE! She's been on four trail rides without being ponied, and did a great job; even got her to canter without any trouble.
HIGGY has been SOLD.
